General Manager
Salvador Lucena has over 16 years of international experience in the hospitality industry. Prior to joining
Monte Rei in February 2008, Salvador specialized in operations and product development and has held senior
management positions in 5 star properties like The Cliff Bay (Madeira), Sheraton Mencey (Canary Islands)
and The Ritz Four Seasons (Lisbon). During his career, Salvador has worked in different countries like
Russia, Spain, Belize, England and Portugal.
Iain McInally
Director of Golf
Iain McInally joined Monte Rei from the position of General Manager at Quinta do Lago in the
Algarve, having previously held Director of Golf positions within St Andrews in Scotland,
Royal Westmoreland in Barbados, and Marriott Hanbury Manor in Hertfordshire. Iain's career
in golf commenced over 20 years ago at Worplesdon Golf Club in Surrey, before he moved to the
highly acclaimed Wisley Golf Club shortly after winning the 'PGA Trainee of the Year award'
in 1991. As a player, Iain has won 14 Professional tournaments, including the Barbados Open
in 1999. He Captained the Surrey PGA as an Assistant Professional and during his time in the
Caribbean was both a member of the Board of the Barbados National Golf Association and
Coach to the Barbados National Team.
Francisco Blazquez
Director of Agronomy
Francisco Blazquez
received his
agronomy and turf sciences degrees from the University of Seville
followed by graduate
studies at Michigan State University in the United States.
He served tenures at prestigious private clubs in America such
as The Standard and Cedar Hammock before joining Troon Golf
in 2003 at the internationally acclaimed Troon North Golf
Course. Later, Blazquez was promoted to regional agronomist
based at the Dominican Republic's Capcana Resort featuring
one of the top ranked Jack Nicklaus Signature courses in the
world. He joined Monte Rei in February 2007.
Jaime Pérez
Executive Chef and Director of Food & Beverage
Jaime Pérez and Monte Rei celebrated their partnership
to operate the various Food & Beverage at the Clubhouse in 2007. Chef Pérez
will also introduce to the world his "signature" brand in 2008. Before his
arrival, Chef Pérez spent many years as a leading chef at El Bulli and Ferrán
Adrià followed by collaborations with NH hotels in Marbella and most recently
at the Ritz Carlton Hotel Arts in Barcelona.
Carla de Sousa
Director of Finance
Carla de Sousa joined Monte Rei in 2007 and is an
experienced corporate controller with many years experience in the region.
Most recently she lead the activities at the well known Vilar do Golfe
resort in Quinta do Lago on behalf of Sunterra Corporation and their
auditing firm KPMG, one of the world's largest vacation resort companies
whose portfolio includes over 100 destinations in 13 countries.
